I used to be of your mind about kitchen appliances, but my tiny new crockpot and tiny new food processor have changed my mind. And my electric kettle, but that's not really an appliance, more of SOMETHING I COULD NOT LIVE WITHOUT.
Haha! I have SEEN it...and even tasted it. Needless to say I strongly disapproved. Pure sacrilege. You can have chili without meat, but you can't have chili without beans. It's just. Not. Right.
Oh, crockpots don't really count. Although now that I think about it, Kevin is really the only one who uses it. But overall, I think crockpots are an essential kitchen tool, especially if you want to eat decently but don't have a whole lot of time to cook. Food processors annoy me...and I'm going to have to get over that. I'm finding far too many recipes that I want to try that require the use of a food processor. *sigh*
Heh. You and the electric kettle. I like those things too. Honestly though, I'm completely fine with a regular stovetop kettle. There's not a whole lot of difference in prep time.

I had a mental ban on food processors too, but have found mine to be indispensable for making curries. I did try it with a hand blender as recommended by one of the recipes, but it really didn't work as intended. (And by didn't work as intended I mean sprayed tomato & onion puree all over me.)

Oh, crockpots don't really count. Although now that I think about it, Kevin is really the only one who uses it.
