The last thing I expected at the inauguration was a rendition of 'God Save the Queen', well, the music to it anyway. The music was chosen for the UK National Anthem in a contest, and I know there is at least one other European country that uses it too (one of the really small ones) but I had never heard it in a US context. Over here its an entirely different thing...same tune, but different words and nothing to do with a king or queen.

It is right up there with the Star Spangled Banner as a patriotic song here in the states. God Bless America!!! Some people want/still want to make it the National Anthem because the Star Spangled Banner is hard to sing, I guess. (One of my ancestors wrote the words, Francis Scott Key) My maiden name is Key.

Anyway, it is wonderful music, so we share it with you.
