Toilet habits

I've been carrying around a little bottle of hand sanitiser since last October, roughly at the peak of H1N1 infections here in Canada. Normally I'm not that paranoid but I guess pregnancy changes your assessment of risk. I've found it dead useful, not just for cleaning hands on the go but also when I have to use the toilet at shopping centres and ( Read more... )

*boggles*

I think you're related to my germophobic mother-in-law. She hates even touching door handles or stair banisters. Yes, and she hovers over ANY toilet seat no matter what. In fact, when her son was little, and they were visiting people, she'd send him into the toilet first so his urine would sanitise any of their germs!!!!

Me, I have Crohn's. That means I gotta sit whether I like it or not.

I use hand sanitiser at work after visiting the loo - only because one of my colleagues told me he'd observed colleagues not washing their hands after visiting the toilet, or picking their nose. So that grossed me out enough to get hand santiser! Germs don't usually bother me though - especially when I think of how basic facilities were when I was in the camp in Peru - oddly enough I never picked up any bugs there!

When I was a kid I used to be told to put loo roll down on 'strange' toilet seats that I visited but I don't do this now. I just wipe the seat and get on with it. I don't hover either, as I'd heard this can cause bladder problems.

I've been meaning to say - your pregnancy seems to be going in really fast! You're nearly 7 months now, right?

Normally if I *have* to go to the toilet even if it is less than clean, I won't have problems with my bladder not cooperating, heh. So hovering didn't bother me. I just can't really do it anymore!

Yeah, I am 7 months next week. Apparently I am now officially in my third trimester :) I don't know about it going fast though... I was just thinking this afternoon that it felt like I've been pregnant for so long and I wished I would get to hold the baby next week, heh.

Haha, he's never heard of hovering :-D I have been known to hover.

I carry hand sanitizer when I travel. Ships, trains, trams and buses are germy places. It's funny because when I'm working I have no trouble eating my food with black work hands. Also, I lick bone at work :-p

I didn't hover all the time even in the past, only when the situation called for it :p I started carrying hand sanitisers when travelling about a year ago, and only been doing so regularly when I am out and about since last autumn.

Well, your work sites have much fewer people compared to other public places, and people = germs ;p

Reading this entry gives me goosebumps!

I've done the lining thing but never the hover; I just feel too stressed and it's too tiring to do anything in that position!

That's cos you guys don't need to use the toilet seat to pee :p I couldn't hover if I was doing a biggie either - I am not kung fu trained!

LOL. I've done the hover and the lining thing. I always wipe the seat with toilet paper whether it looks dirty or not. Not at home, only out. And I don't touch the door handles in public toilets after I have washed my hands, I will cover my clean hands with my clothes to open them or use a paper towel.

I do carry sanitiser but I only usually use it for cleaning high chairs and their trays before (and after) I sit Isaac in them.

If you always wipe the seat with toilet paper even at home I would be a little worried, haha. As for hand sanitiser for cleaning high chairs and trays, that's a good point. I'll remember that.

Actually now that I think about it, the stuff I clean the high chairs with isn't the alcohol sanitiser, it's a tiny bottle of spray dettox that I got in one of my bounty packs (that you get at certain stages of pregnancy/baby's life, mostly full of advertising).
