You should join Melantha's Order! We're planning a whole new platform of Neutrality and such. (Except, um, not. Totally kidding. I love the Horai, but we are seriously screwed up right now and will be for a while.)

On a tangential note, the social vs. combat issue was why I left the Sentinels for the Sylvans. I haven't really interacted enough with the House to see a measurable difference, but I do love the scholarship opportunities like our cauldron (we have to decipher Latin-based recipes for unique elixirs).

And Cyrene is making me positively ill these days. I doubt I'll ever have Kiril get involved with any organization outside the house because of it. I don't find all the snarking fun or entertaining.
