I think maybe just an overall class in "Real Life" with a major focus on personal finances.

I remember having issues when selling my car because I had never gotten the title after I had finished paying off the car loan. I had no clue I was supposed to do that or how to do that, etc.

The process of buying a house, basic house maintenance (like what needs to be maintained quarterly, yearly, etc), how to cook basic foods, how to sew a button back on your clothes. How credit cards work, how loans work, basic tax filing, etc.

Some of these things I knew how to do, but others don't.

I don't know that we had a class like that at my HS. If there was, I certainly didn't know about it. I know in Middle School they got rid of Home Ec. a couple years before I started.

I think a class that covers real life should be a mandatory class. You might not have to figure out a physics equation again, but most likely you'll have to balance your checkbook. :)

They had either eliminated Home Ec or it was just middle school when I got to high school. And I would make it mandatory for high school juniors and seniors.

I actually got this in Home Economics in the 8th grade. It wasn't all cooking, sewing, and ironing.

Not sure if theys till do that. We did a small exercise like this in 6th grade, but I think it needs to be more seniot in high school so you have some practical appreciation for the lessons.

I probably would have balked at having to take such a course, but in hindsight I could have been (and still be) spared a lot of angst and grief over badly managed money in my late teens & early/mid 20s. o_O

Yup - so could a lot of people. And for those that aren't at el;ast they could not say that they didnt know what they were getting themselves into.
