Were you a Teramachi virgin before this?! *is abashed* I love Teramachi! Did you go to the Nishiki Market, too? It's one of the off-shoots of Teramachi, and it's this really amazing food market.

That big crab always makes me happy!

P.S. Another place you should go, if you haven't already, is Pontocho! It's parallel to Kiyamachi-dori and just across the river from Gion. It's all the old teahouses from when Geisha lived there, but now they're restaurants and stuff. It's just really cool to walk down!

Well I wasn't a Teramachi virgin technically, heh. Liz and I went way back when we first got here, just wandering around town. We didn't see much of it; just went into a few stores, saw how expensive everything was, and came home.
It's been interesting going back, though! I really like the shop where I got my dress. If I get extra cash, I'll go back and buy another. There's always little trinkets or hair clips or earrings or jewelry that I want but don't need, it's like fighting off an addiction! Japanese stuff is cute and too pleantiful, heh.

I'll try to figure out a weekend we can get together, our finals are coming up, blegghhh.

Hi Janelle,
Me too! I'd really like to see a picture of you. I miss you and would like to see your smile (and dress). I was thinking of you yesterday as I was reading about cosmetic surgery. This local (Japanese, I think) surgeon was noting that many young women think their cheeks are too pudgy (got that from your chipmunk cheek comments). He said that in most females this disappears (actually drops down) by mid-twenties. I understand that my cheek pads are now sitting on each side of my chin--but you have another 40 years to worry about that.
Hope all is well.

Hi Aunt Joan!

I will take pictures of me in the dress when I get a chance to wear it. It might be a while, though, since it is sleeveless and light. I like it, though. I'll try to take more pictures with me in them, but I always feel weird asking people to take pictures of me, a little awkward.
I got the chipmunk cheeks from my dad, I noticed. It looks like he got them from his dad, from what I've seen in the pictures. Sometimes it's interesting to look at Alaina and me, and see what we've inherited from our parents (Alaina has dad's nose while I have mom's, we both have blue eyes from dad, etc.) The big question is whether or not my hair will go grey like dad's or if it will stay brown like mom's! Hehe.

How are things back home?
