You know, there is always the idea of staying in Japan to teach or returning after you graduate. From what I hear, full time teachers there make pretty good money teaching english and teachers also enjoy a level of respect teachers in the US can only wish for.
Still, you know me, *I* think you should move out here. :)

As with home, it definitely depends on where you end up teaching. Some of the middle schools have some downright bastard kids (as back home). College level seems better, a lot less formal/strict than college at home. Another interesting thing I've noticed here is that a lot of jobs are for either Japanese people only, or foreign people only. No grey area. The pay is decent, definitely, but the living costs here seem insane to me, coming from Michigan (it probably wouldn't look so bad to someone who is used to it or living in a similar costing place, such as in California). I wonder what the taxes and everything here is like, too. My teacher says that she gets gouged by The Japanese Man, but then again she's the kooky English lady who thinks square watermelons are grown by harvesting genetically mutated seeds

Janelle, I was surfing a bit earlier and came across a couple of interesting bi-lingual job websites. The most interesting was CFN/Career Forum. It was also listed on some college sites so I think its legit. Unfortunately they had their most recent job fair in Tokyo just before Christmas...but there are lots to come and it looks like there is a job/internship posting site too. Let me know what you think or let me know if you can't find it. I can't figure out how to paste it--well, I could but I'm too tired. Hope all is well. Aunt Joan
