Bret's voice in the Hurt Feelings reprise -- my god. I could listen to that voice all day. When is he going to release another solo album? WHEN?!?!

I seriously think that's my favorite bit from the entire show. It was so beautifully done, and BRET'S VOICE. My unpopular fandom opinion is that I like him in Flight of the Conchords but I love him as a solo artist. I'd take solo!Bret over more Conchords every single time.

I would take solo Bret over the Conchords too. I'm biased, I know, but I think his voice completely stands out on the albums too -- it's used in almost all (if not all) background vocals for those sweet harmonies. I don't repeatedly listen the songs for the comedy factor. Jemaine brings that "hey, I do funny things with my voice" to make you laugh, but Bret's voice is just so BEAUTIFUL. It really brings everything together. OK.. I'll stop gushing about Bret now. :)

No, don't stop! Bret!gushing makes me happy. I'm always amazed (and a little sad) at the lack of recognition he seems to get sometimes. It's nice when other people appreciate his voice and his other work as much as I do. :D

I'm surprised at the lack of recognition too. Maybe it's partly because he's always joking about how mediocre they are when it comes to playing music. Don't be so modest, Bret! Maybe it's because not everyone listens to their music as obsessively as I do. Ha! I especially liked the Under the Radar article because they had that quote from Mickey Petralia about how amazing Bret was at playing drums, bass, keyboards.. I feel like that article gave Bret some of the accolades he he was due. :)

Although have you read any articles or record reviews that mention his voice? I can't remember any. :(

I'm a Jemainiac (leaning to Bi-Conchordian), but love the Video Kid. And Bret's voice.

Have heard there's a second VK release on its way sometime this year!

And Bret's mum says he can play 11 instruments well.

I would be so so so SOOOOO happy if there was a VK release on it's way. :)

I love Bret. And his mum. I love Jemaine too... just in a different way. ;)
