Aca Question

Hey, academics - is it cheating to use (and cite) book reviews in your literature review?  Or are you supposed to read and evaluate every book yourself?

Sigh.  Okay.

To be safe, do it yourself.

Only cite book reviews in your lit review if your prof has indicated that it's okay.

Of course, things may have changed since my graddie days.....

(thanks for the input!) He's never said one way or another, and it's embarassingly late to ask (due on Wednesday). For as much as he kept pushing me to expand this wider and wider, I can't imagine he believes I'm reading over a dozen books for one seminar paper. Articles, yes, but books? It just doesn't seem realistic.

I can see that would be useful, but it must be a little depressing as an author to think that so many people will be skimming something you've worked so hard on!

Ah yes, very comforting at the moment! "Things will only get worse".
