Mwa-ha-ha-haaa!  Bow before my Boxing Prowess, Mere Mortals!

I just got back from the first of four "Boxing Fundamentals" classes.  There are only six students, and two instructors, which is an awesome ratio.  One of the instructors is a woman with more defined biceps than I've ever seen on a woman in real life and I would like her arms, please ( Read more... )

Would you please STOP making me want to move to Madison? I want to go to that gym! I wish we had an actual boxing class around here, and that one even sounds welcoming to women, which is amazing. I am so, so, so jealous. So jealous.

Happy for you, but jealous!

Yes! Go with "jealous"! Feeeel the jealous! Waaaaallow in the jealous! Moooove to Madison!

The woman is awesome. She started here in a similar class about 11 years ago, and actually went pro. She was in 10 pro fights, without an injury, before deciding she wanted to back off and raise her family for awhile.

The old guy who was the main teacher never treated us two girls any differently than the guys (which is especially good, considering how his generation was raised). He kept calling me the "young lady", though, which always makes me want to giggle.

She started in a class and went pro? I am awed by her. And then ten pro fights without an injury? Amazing.

All in all, completely wonderful, her story and the old guy not treating you any different and oh. Amazing.

It wouldn't be crazy just to move somewhere to take one class, would it?

Of COURSE not. The opposite of crazy. Sensible, one might say. Very normal. Four out of five people who are me recommend it.

Sounds awesome! I'd especially love learning the speedbag. It looks hard but it looks fun once you get the hang of it!

It sounds like my muay thai gym.

*hugs* I'm glad you love it. :) Someday I might just have to get my ass to WI so that we can work out together. *g*

Just remember to breathe out with each punch. It helps. And shift your weight on every punch. That's what I got lectured on tonight. *g*

I remembered the breathing out thing halfway through, which helped a lot. I hadn't thought conciously about shifting weight, so that's good to know!

And you are totally welcome to mosey on up here to work out together. Come August, rm_renfield and I are even going to have a *guest* room!
