KILL STAB HATE SCREAM CRUSH DESTROY

Premiere Pro ... I hate it ... so ... MUCH, it ... flames.  Flames, on the side of my face.  Heaving, breathless ...

I don't have a lot of vidding experience, specifically because of problems like this with Premiere, but some things that come to mind are:

1) You're trying to work with files in multiple/different .avi codecs. Premiere seems to work better when everything is in .mpeg. Or so I've been told.

2) Possibly not so much a harddrive space issue as a RAM issue?

3) Which operating system? Um, I'm reaching here because I can't remember if XP defaults to an NTFS file system, but if it's an older file system it can't support files over like 4 or 6 gigs or something, (I can't remember the exact number), so if it's trying to create temp files bigger than that it could be causing problems.

Mostly shooting in the dark here. I gave up after about 45 minutes with Premiere, though. That was like two years ago. Heh.

Actually, I converted everything to mpeg before I started, having read horror stories on the PPro forums.

It's quite possibly a RAM issue, but I don't know what to do about it if so. Is there some nice and easy fix for that?

I'm on Windows XP and my computer knowledge unfortunately does not extend to file systems. Which would be the best one, and is it possible to switch?

Thanks so much for even trying to help!
