11:02 pm - It's Ellen's twelve days!  It's Ellen's twelve days!  It's Ellen's twelve days of gi-i-i-ve-aways!  Why, why, why will this song not go away?  Doesn't it realize I have to write??

11:18 pm - I have nothing to say about this.  Nothing.  My mind is nothing more than a jumble of incoherent thoughts.  The mantra "You don't have to do it ( Read more... )

i don't think that's a trend as much as sth that most of lj outside of fandom has always done. most of my students who have ljs use parts of themselves as pics and when you get off the fannish paths (writers, gay dating scene, whatever else folks use LJ for :-), it seems quite common....

nikitangel...of course along with the reprimands is a standing offer of reading :-) when is the darn thing due btw??? also, argh! on the grading.

Yeah, I've seen quite a few icons with user pictures in them. I'm concentrating on fan icons for this paper, though, thankfully.

(In case you're wondering? No choir this morning)

omg...just realized the icon...love it!!!!!

and i can't wait to see this paper...icons are so very fascinating to me. i know even though mine aren't that pretty, i spend a lot of time thinking about them, and i love all kinds of icon memes...

they're like a little part of our unconscious..like footnotes they're not really giving the messages per se, but are working on another level. i esp. like the ones that undermine the actual comment of the message or are comments all by themselves. i hug and lol and sigh without ever needing to sayu a word (lj doesn't accept empty entries, so a *see icon* or just a period will have to do.

also, i have at least one blind person on my lj list, and it is interesting when commenting in her lj how much i use my icons to send a message mediate its impact, support the content, etc. not having that option really makes you aware of it!!!

Helped me feel less lonely at 2 am

Thank you! I'm glad. I write those posts for my own sanity, but it's fun to entertain people at the same time.

My thesis is still eluding me and unfortunately, I have forgotten the genius dream I'm sure I had last night.

Thanks for the suggestion of reading it out loud. Come to think of it, the last big paper I did really only came together after discussing it with my friend over the phone.

Oh, and I've friended you, so you can see more of the posts. I flock anything to do with my students, or anything academic about me that I'd be embarassed for one of my students to stumble over :-)
