I didn't win any awards in the fanfic contest I posted about earlier. But I'm still very happy that someone (or two someones -- turns out I had two fics nominated) thought highly enough of my writing to put it in the running.

Hello! I realize this is going to sound semi (super) random but I saw you're from NY. ^^;

I'm looking to make some new friends and meet some people on LJ so I thought I'd give geography proximity a try... I go to college in Manhattan at the moment (and for another year, yay!).

Well, my NY is nothing like your NY (I live upstate, although I spent a few years in the city -- got my master's from Columbia). But if you're actually interested in reading the ramblings of a 50-year-old lady, friend away. Don't be bummed, though, if I don't friend you right back. I tend to keep my flist reserved for RL friends and those I have a non-random online connection with. That could change down the line. How did you find me? Do we have a mutual friend?

I think we have a degree or two of separation, I've been clicking through randomly on LJ looking for interesting people that I could get to know. I don't mind at all, if I were looking for someone just like myself, I'd just spend all day reading my own journal. :p I also don't mind if you don't add me right back, I completely understand the need to getting to know someone first! I did just add you though, so hopefully that's okay as a start. :)
