Missed fencing last night. Frau Hau was too ill to look after the kids, but I think I had a dose of whatever it was myself.

I've just read the 5th story - a Viking leading Normans into action against Saracens, and I just sat their swearing while the imagery ricocheted around my head.

The one dated element is the slight archaism of the language when the characters speak. (Dost, thee, etc). I think the publisher's site has excerpts - you can decide for yourself.

I've got three books I do need to finish . . . esp. since I owe feedback on all of them - Jim C. Hines's "The Mermaid's Madness"; Ari Marmell's "The Conquerer's Shadow" and Yasmine Galenorn's "Bone Magic".

But what the heck. What's another book on the Must-be-read pile, right?
