See Nightwind Whine! Whine, Nightwind, Whine!

I'm really not looking forward to the rest of this week. Got a concert on Friday, wherein we have to play (see icon) Wagner. :P But before we can get to that, there are the two dress rehearsals, one tonight, one tomorrow night. Each of them runs from 6:30 to 9-ish. Then there's the 1.5-hour drive home afterwards. Meaning, we're not home until 10:30 ( Read more... )

music crap, general whining

Oh, we will. We'll just be really bitchy when it's all over. Or I will, at least. Frosty's never bitchy. :) I'm trying to put things in perspective. It's only four days out of my life, right? I guess I'm just bein' all drama-queeny n' stuff. :)

Apparently, that's so. :p They say that one will go through menopause later than one's mother. Given that my mother started to go through hers in her late 50s, I'm figuring I won't get mine 'til I'm 65. *whimper*

OMG I love your icon. To my extreme irritation, last year I actually paid good, American dollars to see "Das Rheingold" and ARRRRGH I WANT MY MONEY BACK. Not because the singers were bad-- they were fantastic. But holy cats that was the boringest and most lifeless opera I have ever seen.

Ya just gotta love it when the actors just sit there and stare for what seems like a half-hour, huh? :p

I hate Wagnerian opera. I hate Wagnerian everything. I remember having looooooooooong discussions/debates about Wagner with my German teacher in school, who adored Wagner. One was long enough that I missed half of my next class. You should've seen that next teacher's face when I gave her the note from the German teacher when she saw that the reason for my lateness was because he and I were having an extended debate about late-19th-century opera. :) Anyway, one if the reasons I like Brahms an awful lot, I think, is that he was Wagner's greatest rival, both musically and philosophically, although it was sort of a one-sided rivalry in that it was mostly Wagner who disparaged Brahms, not the other way around, for his stalwart classicism...

...But I'll stop before I end up writing a dissertation. ;) In any case, I agree wholeheartedly: Why anyone would pay good money to see a Wagner opera is way beyond me.

Well, in my defense, I *was* still in my 20's. (*cough*) :)

Also, I mistakenly believed Das Rheingold was the Death-To-The-Wabbit installation in the Ring Cycle. (Yes, I really *am* that shallow.)

So it was just last year then? ;)

You know, Looney Tunes made Wagner way better than Wagner made Wagner. :)
