Man....why do you give the best damn information on these things and I only give crap?
Maybe it's because I don't feel like I have anything to hide anymore. I used to think that the fact that in my past I ritualistically killed things was this big, dark, terrible secret that I had to hide from everyone lest people think less of me or ask me questions that I couldn't answer. Well, now my attitude seems to be entirely the opposite. If they want to think less of me, so be it. I'd rather own up to my failings, past and present, thinking that perhaps it might reach someone else who is in sort of the place that I used to be. Or something like that.
And you're still that messed up in the head. You hang around with me.
Well...that's true, yes. :) So maybe I haven't quite left behind all of my messed-up-ness after all. ;)
I don't think less of you for it. Sure, it's a scary thing to think about, but that was then, and I think you're pretty dang brave to be so open about it.
As for being brave... Y'know, it's funny. I have an easier time admitting to dark things to (potentially) the entire world on the Internet than I have admitting to things to one person face-to-face. I'm weird, yes. :)
Yeah, I know that pain. My freshman year in college, I had Calculus II at 7:35AM. No one in their right mind should schedule a calc class that early in the morning. Is it any wonder that half the class failed? *rolls eyes*
Frankly... I didn't know that day was celebrated in States, and even more today. Culumbus day (as you call it) is celebrated on 12th October in Spain AND all Latin America from Mexico to Chile; it's in two days, and here there are several international events than are emtied by TV to all countries... But I still having to work that day. I don't get why you should cellebrate it, though. Perhaps it's because Columbus day is something "historic" after all, and America was *officially* discovered when Columbus arrived there... In spite Wikings were there several centuried before. But I agree with you: I don't get why America got its name from Americo Vespuccio who wasn't related with the event at all. And, btw, it isn't totaly sure Culumbus was Italian, there are several proofs about he was actually Catalanish (an old Spanish kindong which is a region righ now)
Interesting "meme"... Perhaps I'll do it, too. Besides, I don't like coffie, either. ;-)

Technically, Columbus Day is October 12 over here, too, but they always move the "official" holiday to the closest Monday so that all the bank, government, and post office workers get a long weekend. Which makes it even worse. I want a long weekend, dangit! :p And even you don't get the day off and you're in Spain! That sucks!
And I'm surprised they celebrate it in Latin America. Yeah, like let's celebrate the beginning of the despoilment of our land and the wholesale genocide of our native peoples! WOO! :p
As for it being "historic"...Well, the thing is that it isn't historic, really. People long before Columbus knew that there was a landmass over on this side of the Atlantic. People in Europe knew it, too, just as they knew that the planet was spherical, not flat. So, Columbus didn't find anything unexpected. Moreover, as I said, Columbus didn't really discover America. So it isn't historic, really. So why do we ram it down kids' throats. It's not as if we don't already feed them all sorts of misinformation. Why perpetuate the

Oh, so that's what happens there! Yes, here "Holyday" day uses to be moved to the closest weekend... but when it's on Wednesday, it's just impossible. I have to work that day, but it's because my work, not the ususal (Ameban glares to the rest of workers)
And I'm surprised they celebrate it in Latin America. Yeah, like let's celebrate the beginning of the despoilment of our land and the wholesale genocide of our native peoples! WOO! :pTechnicaly, ALL coutries than were colonies or European nations shouldn't celebrate such things... All they were massacred, and till very recient times, not only 500 years ago

Oh great, so all the Canadians got today off, too? Blargh! :)
Well, at least today is almost over so I can stop my grousing. :) Now to decide whether or not I want to drive to orchestra rehearsal (1.5 hours one way)... Given that it might snow tonight...I'm thinking not. :)
