I have this problem where I assume that people are relatively sane. And because of this, I tend to be polite to everyone. If I'm sitting on a bench waiting, and a person sits next to me and makes a little comment about the weather, I'll comment back. If the person starts a conversation, I'll listen and participate. But this is where my assumption

LOL. I have the same problem--the crazies always want to talk to me! I've trained myself over the years to go with the immediate smackdown, but now I do it sometimes even when they aren't crazy.

"Can you tell me the time?"

"Look at the damn clock! Don't touch me!"
