So! I've been told that today women are supposed to give gifts to men they know/like...

So! Since I can't say my list of friends is very long, I can offer some chocolate I bought...but it was a little lacking, so I covered it in cheese.

The Damnare are damned souls, sent to Hell to spend an alotted amount of time in punishment, which sometimes is eternity. To be a true Demon, you must be born one.

And what makes a demon so different from those they look after, and from the Shinigami?

It's like I said, we are born into what we are. The Damnare are twisted souls that used to be living in some shape or form--maybe by anger or loss, a murderous rage, or what have you, but they are being punished for something wrong done in another existence--but we are as we always have been. Our existence is here and now, and our actions are not based on a previous life. Though some Damnare are able to move up in status and escape the Circle of which they are eternally damned too, they are not the same. Their blood is impure.

As for the Shinigami, I'm still trying to figure that out. It was one of the reasons I was hoping to learn more about them, here. Much of our knowledge about the Shinigami is very outdated.

Humans tend to categorize Demons as well, but not in their entirety. What they know is mainly based on hauntings...which are usually not Demon-related at all (and more often than not just souls who have not moved on or, as you know, Hollows), and possessions, which are really escaped Damnare. Actual Demons are typically only used during summonings, of which there are some records of in that book.
