I give up. I'm always trying to help a friend, and he is always shooting whatever kindness Igive him down! What's the use? He refuses any help I can give him. Yet he is always saying I'm one of the reasons he doesn't go off at night and shoot his brains out. It's too confusing and too much drrama for me. I give up. I just won't try to help him

meh, sounds like the family. Always wanting advice, then unable to follow it to save their own lives. Just do what I did, stop giving it to him. Be crass and tell him that there's no point in giving him the advice he seeks because he's too thick headed to accept and follow it.
