Happy 8/5/05!

Aug 05, 2005 18:10

I stopped posting this in March, so I'll include the whole thing--in two cuts, for those who don't care to backtrack.

Pay It Forward
by Nightfall
Notes: The date does reflect the pairing, but only one of those fives is Gojyo.
Summary: Running away from himself, Sha Jien trips over a shard of frozen jade.

I worship and utterly utterly adore you! I- God. Slightly incoherent with This was SO Good.

Oh, the sharp thorniness of Jien running; that sense that some things you do aren't mistakes no matter how much you wish they were, and he doesn't want to face that. The perfect characterisation of him like it's not about penance of any sort for him but about finding someone, something to fill the hole of 'someone needs me' in him that he's always had, that's as natural to him as breathing. His mother, his half-brother, everything along the way to Gonou and in the end Kougaiji. It makes so much sense ( ... )

The wordless squiggle of appreciated glee will try to muster a more coherant response later.

(snickers) The Jienmuse keeps rereading your second paragraph and going, "Huh? Oh, well, uh, maybe, I guess....?" while everyone else laughs at him. He pretends real hard that he doesn't think about this stuff too much.

What would Gojyo be, had Jien never tried to save Gonou?
(hides in fear, doesn't wanna think about it)
Actually, the first thing that springs to mind is, Touga.

(continues to squee quietly over praise)

Beautiful story--just beautiful!!! I think the absolute best part of the story was Hakkai thanking Doku at the end--not for all the little things Doku thought worthy of thanks, but for the one thing that Jien never even thought to be thanked for; and to Hakkai, more valuable than limiters, more useful than fighting and something much better for relieving stress than cooking--saving his brother.

It is so Hakkai to almost make Doku guess why Hakkai is thanking him--Gojyo is definitely rubbing off on Hakkai.

"Sanzo would shoot me before I could do any serious damage."

"This is a good thing?"

*giggle fits* Obviously Doku hasn't been around the Sanzo-ikkou enough to know how often Sanzo shoots his teammates--well, shoots at them (a twisted kind of daily training--I can hear Sanzo saying snidely, "If they can't dodge a few measly bullets, then they aren't worth dragging west.")--so Hakkai saying something like this is him simply stating that that Sanzo would implement his "rowdy youkai" control methods: fan for irritations and gun for ( ... )

...I'm stuck on this image now:

Goku: whiiiiiiiinehungrywhiiiiiiiine....
Sanzo: ...Hakkai.
Hakkai: Yes?
Sanzo: ...If I shot you right now, it would bounce.
Gojyo: Yeah, chill out, buddy. You're way stressed out.
Hakkai: You're saying I need some stress relief? (stops the Jeep) Perhaps.
Goku: (bounce bounce) Are you gonna cook now?!!!
Hakkai: (looking anywhere but at Gojyo) Anh, I suppose that's one option....

The cosplay one? That would be great! Although, of course, just seeing him in the kimono was adorable.
