I heard cards are starting to charge fees even if you don't have balances. Be careful! I've never had a credit card and I am hardcore in support of debit cards forever. I am also in opposition to kindles though... something about how there was a book, George Orwell's 1984 I believe (I could be wrong), that people bought on kindle but then found it had been deleted. The company that made kindle had problems with the copyright of the book and the people that had bought it had no way of getting the book back because they were no longer carrying the book with kindle. I don't remember if they were payed back but still, kindle took back the book they had already bought. And if you read the fine print, kindle reserves the right to do that at any time with any title. So I was not happy about that and decided I would never get one.

I saw a preview for Avatar last night.... it looks great! It's playing in Japanese theaters already so I think I'm going to watch it while I still have vacation time :)

i <3 debit cards and i hope that i hardly ever use the credit cards. i will always prefer debit. <3

i never heard of that thing with the kindle... interesting. i hope that Amazon (creator of the Kindle) never has any more issues like that. :/ actually i have been looking at other ebook readers too like the ones by Sony and Bookeen, but i cant help but like the kindle too, even though it's like the ipod of ebook readers and i hate ipods. ^^;

you should definitely see Avatar in 3D if you can. :]

hopefully you enjoy your Kindle! i got a Sony Reader before i came back to Vietnam last summer, and i love it. i dunno about in Japan, but here it's really hard to find decent English books.. so having an ebook reader has been great. i haven't even bought many books yet because there are so many good things to read (freely) available at the gutenberg project.

Credit cards aren't scary if used properly. Read all the fine print and make sure yours doesn't charge fees just for having one. Don't hold a balance, and treat it as actual, if more flexible, cash. If possible, get one with rewards, so YOU are earning money off the company (even if it's only 1%).

Actually, if you plan on living in America in the future, your credit score is overly important and cannot be established without having credit accounts or debts, so a properly-used credit card will help you in the long run!

thanks for the advice. :] the first card that i signed up for has cash back rewards and that's why i prefer it to the Amazon one that just has Amazon points as rewards. i'll try my best to use them wisely.

i think i already have some credit thanks to making payments on my student loans. hopefully i'll build more good credit with the cards. :] i wish credit was an international thing though since i dont know if i'll live in America again any time soon....

Glad to hear you have a great time in America.
Not so good that you're almost broke, though :/

I'll go all out once I'm on vacation as well, though.
But for now I still have to work *sigh* :/

Enjoy the rest of your time there! (^-^)/
