i just ate a wonderful, wonderful grilled cheese sandwich. god bless America for grilled cheese sandwiches. earlier i had the best 200yen (thats expensive for those not in the know) small slice of pizza in the world... which was the best slice of pizza in the world only because it`s the closest thing to a "normal" American pizza that i`ve had in ( Read more... )

Have you thought about trying to teach yourself how to make pizza as well? :) It's not impossible and it could be fun to practice. When you get it right then you could impress ppl at the school with one ( ... )

my mom mentioned that to me... but now that i`m thinking about it, by the time i get all the ingredients that i would need, i`d prob be putting just as much as, if not more money into a homemade pizza as i would a bought pizza. i`ll look into it though.

as for getting into the inner loop of the school, i doubt that`s possible no matter what i do since my only working there 2 days a week is probably a big part of what keeps me out of it. also, i`ll be switched out of this school come April/May anyway...

thanks for the positive thoughts.

But then you'd always know how to make pizza. I make a pretty good one at home because I like lots of veggies, soy cheese (which tastes like regular cheese but no lactose) and whole wheat crust. It comes out really good and the dough is actually pre-made but I could make it myself. It makes a huge pie that lasts me a week too (especially with a salad on the side).

Ah...yes, loops tend to require dropping by more often or making friends with someone in the know. Yeah, I guess as you see yourself as temporary, they feel the same. But April/May still feels like a significant opportunity of time to me.

Your most welcome and thank you for sharing your experiences. ^^

if a pre-made crust is involved, then i already know how to make pizza lol. if i can find a pre-made crust, then i may make my own pizza. it`s the ingredients for the crust that would probably cost the most if i made it from scratch.

between now and April/May i will continue to try to improve communication between me and the teachers, i just wont go as far out of my way to do it as i would if i were permanently at that school. i wont give up, though, just because i`m temporary. :]

I have my favorite schools too. I wish I liked all my schools (and students and JTEs) equally, but, meh. I'm not a robot.

Waaaah! Good luck on level 2! You are so awesome.

Can I ask you where you got your tutor? The JET course is lame and I'm just not learning as quickly as I'd like to... I'd really like to tackle the 5th or 4th level JLPT before I leave, but I don't see that happening in the near future without a big change in my studies.

there is no 5th level, but level 4 is easypeezy. i`m sure you could pass it this year with some studying. you probably wouldnt even have to study that hard to pass it.

btw, is your lodging being provided for all 3 days of the conference?

Well, I got a room at #1 Kochi, but I hear it's really far from the place where we're having the conference. On top of that, I don't even know where the darn place is! I feel so alone and helpless and Matt isn't picking up his phone! Grr!

uhh... i should really look at where the conference is being held, huh? lmao

*finds paper* ...where the hell is this? *googlemaps it* OOOOOOOOOOhhhh.... i know where that is.

i just googlemapped No.1 Kochi too to check the distance and it is pretty far (from the place marked on the map (your hotel) to the green area to the south of the river marked 高知市球場).

if you like i can meet you at your hotel and we can catch the train as close as it`ll get and then walk the rest.
