I think those may not actually be computer effects, but analog ones. There were special effects before computers. :)
This point is a bit confusing, but it seems that their position on computer graphics has changed a few times; back in 2006, they were saying that the film would not use any computer effects (which would include the footage in the video). Then in 2007 there was a time when they mused about using not only computer graphics but also having some parts of the film use different animation techniques, such as 2D animation (that's what their website description suggested). Now it seems that they might be back to their original position.
