C & I are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this June. I want to do something unusual, memorable, or just plain romantic, but the catch is that it has to be on the cheap ( Read more... )

I, er, didn't know you guys were married!

Generally speaking, I'm kinda out to lunch, so I hope you aren't offended.

Random suggestion that I don't know how cheap it is or how much of true interest it is, but:

Take a vacation in SF.

It's kinda cool to get a hotel room and be a visitor in your own home town.

I'm sure I can come up with something much more unique if I think about it.

Yup, the fact that we have an open relationship and sustained long-term relationships with other people may be confusing to some.

C & I were contemplating having some sort of celebration thing with our friends, seeing that many of y'all weren't around 10 years ago -- perhaps with some sort of reaffirmation to each other? -- but without knowing what form that event would take, we're leaning towards hanging out together instead.

You could just have all of your friends there to pamper you.

"TOBIAS! I mean, er, ROOMSERVICE! More wine!"

(BTW, yes, yes it is confusing. heh)

In SF: each Sunday closest to a full moon, Millenium has a foodening-followed-by-night-in-the-adjacent-hotel deal. Seems the next one is Mar 16, then April 20.

Or search for cheap airfare deals to places where there's a thing you'd both like to see: a gallery showing an artist you're both into or has meaning to you; a museum you'd been hearing about forever; a monunment, land art (in the vein of Spiral Jetty) or a piece of architecture etc. -- if you can find airfare deals, short 1-2 day trips of this sort can be done on the cheap and can be really fun.

yeah, it's been a while since I've been on a train, and the stretch over the rockies is supposed to be FANTASTIC.

i stayed here http://www.treebonesresort.com/ once and it was absolutelly lovely. you rent a yurt right on the coast of big sur; it's quiet, the ride down is awesome, the yurts are beautiful, etc.
