Oh god, this absolutely crushed me. It was so flowing. I completely lost track of time reading it; the pace of the seasons was perfect and dreamy, and you absorbed me completely in Arthur's world, his head. But I'm crushed because--god, I can't believe he just let Merlin walk (run!) away like that, without trying to catch up. Maybe they aren't in the right places to make the thing between them work, but what they had was so tentative and perfect, I wanted it. So I'm just going to imagine the future, where they meet again and Arthur has a chance to try again with all the new things he's learned.
This was such a tragedy, but still such a wonderful, moving story of growth, and one of the things I loved most about it was the fact that it was very much a story about Arthur and Arthur alone, and the way he grew (and is growing) into himself. I'm shellshocked, but oh I loved it.

I'm so glad you feel this way because it's how I look back on some of my high school relationships. Nothing really compares to them, and they set the ground work for everything that follows in life.
That was just heartbreaking and lovely and so, so beautiful all at the same time. I'm really sad it's finished, and not just at the way it ended; your writing was incredibly moving.
This was so ouchy in all the right ways. The ache of it just settled into my chest and while I love a happy ending full of kissing and hearts and sparkles this one shouldn't have ended that way. I love how confident Merlin is with himself, and yet how guarded he is. I love your reminder that everyone in highschool knows everything about each other and yet no one really knows anything about anyone.

I really strove to portray high school as being about bravado and that level of uncertain superficiality. I'm glad it worked for you!
