I don't hate Twitter. I just have no need for it.

I was just rather annoyed at people who didn't bother to actually learn what it was. o_o

And yes, but Twitter does some stuff LJ doesn't, like @replies and direct messages. ;)

LJ has direct messages as well o.o
Just hover on a persons avitar and click send message lol.

But fair enough, i just getting annoyed with the mass spamage on LJ with people going OMG JOIN TWITTER.. I think you're about the 6th person on my list now to do a Twitter post.

I admit I'm not sure what it is about Twitter that makes people want to defend it, I think its just the whole 'its annoying to reach 50% of my friends using this service except these ones' aspect. ;)

Thanks for the enlightenment on Twitter - this was the stuff I was after when I asked about it on my LJ. I don't mean to be dismissive, just interested that's all. Unfortunately, I am someone who prefers longer comments and most people's Twitter posts I have read are quite dull. But whatever makes people happy :)

Much appreciated - I really don't know if it is for me or not - I'll probably just stick with LJ but that's the beauty of social interactive deeleys like these, you can ask questions and find out information :)

I have nothing against Twitter itself. I don't like being restricted to 140 chars, so don't use it, but I have no problem with people who do. I even follow Twitter channels (or whatever they're called) every so often; I did it for the Canadian general election last year, for one.

LoudTwitter, on the other hand, drives me mad, as Twitterishness does not fit with an LJ Friends page. Interaction is the absolute essence of LJ, and without it it's very much devalued.

Indeed, I agree with that. It would be like reposting logs of your e-mails or phone calls to LJ.

If its worth posting about on LJ, reformat it for the medium people! :)

Though, may I say bunny, it might be neat if you made a 'logan liveblog' Twitter account or some such, that you reposted any of your LiveBlog posts to for the duration of a special event.

No pressure to keep using it when there's nothing interesting going on thusly because you can state in the account you won't be updating when has finished. Twitter lends its self to that format very well as you just mentioned. :)
