My bro owns a pizza place. I was mainly in Loveland and Ft. Collins, but we went over to the west side, too (Glenwood Springs).

i gotta say, San Francisco is pretty kick ass, and no more rainy season!

Although I thought you could transition to a month to month without explicitly doing so... In SF the rent control is ungodly strong, so there is more or less no way for landlords to kick out well behaved tenants.

most cases leases turn into month to month, but not necessarily. i knew that ours did become month to month, but often landlords will raise rent on a month to month arrangement, and that was my concern.

after we met with her on monday though, there was no rent increase (at least none mentioned for now) so we will probably stay month to month - but without a lease we do have to worry that she could increase the rent with just a month's notice now, not to mention if for some crazy reason she decided to sell or something. she said she doesn't have intentions of doing either of those things, but you still never know.

6 month lease sounds ideal! In my meager experience, places that rent month-to-month tend to attract people who steal my bike. ;) Of course if it's just what happens when your lease runs out, then it's usually just $$$$ to do so. Which sucks.
