Why I love fandom, Part 1

Because through fandom I met puckling, who is going with me to the Blackhawks vs Devils game on Tuesday. Yes, we will be in the same building as Kaner, Sharpy, and Duncs and Seabs. And yes, I will document every glorious moment for you.

Fandom rocks.

AUGH. My cousin will also be at that game and I am so. freaking. jealous.

This is my first professional sports game in a really long time (maybe 5 years?). So I AM EXCITE.

This is my first hockey game (of any kind, on any level), so I'm excited and a wee bit nervous. We're too high for the puck to hit me. I think. :D

And will take lots of pictures (with a zoom lens even) for you!

I can't believe there are only 7 regular season games left, and then whatever we can pull off in the playoffs. I'm still jumpy from the game last night--so tense, omg. The way they were going after Duncs, and Kassian attacking Seabs, and just in general the asshattery. Luongo played a hell of a game, though--I was happy to see the Hawks getting off so many good shots. Is this two games in a row that Shaw's got credit for pucks bouncing off his shinpads, though? Meh, they should have gone to Duncs and Oduya.

Ugh, I'm at the point of fandom immersion where I'm reading all the hockey blogs and articles ever, and I forgot the kind of douchery that sports fans get up to. Like, people ripping on Duncs for that elbow (I don't know enough about the sport to comment one way or another whether he should get suspended) and then stupid Hawks fans calling Canucks all divers and the Sedins "sisters." JFC, people are assholes.

ANYWAY. Yes, Luongo and Crawford were both immense. Without them, game definitely would not have ended up only 1-1 after 3 periods. Do you think there's any chance Tazer could come back before the regular season ends? Or early into the playoffs maybe? I don't want him to come back too early, but it must make him so sad not to play. :(

I have an (unsubstantiated) hunch that he won't be back in the regular season. It seemed like the team/coaching staff were alarmed and upset when he had that mysterious setback a week or two ago, so I get the feeling they're being very cautious. God, I hope he's back for the playoffs. I don't see them advancing past the second round without him. Pittsburgh is totally frightening with Sid back, and it makes you realize what a team firing on all cylinders looks like. I like the Pens, so I feel I'll be able to get invested in the playoffs even if the Hawks are eliminated; also the Flyers (Claude!) and the Panthers (Soupy! Versteeg

Will do! I'll probably embarrass puckling so much that she'll disavow our friendship. But whatever, I stopped by Barnes & Noble today and started reading hockey books. I have no shame left.
