6 What the…?
Tora slowly opened his eyes. It was dark. He couldn't remember what happened. He was about to speak when he started hearing strange noises; crunching and chewing ones. He tried to get up but he realized he was completely paralyzed. He couldn't move his body. Tora tried to raise his head, curious about the weird sounds he had been hearing. He saw a man, crouching down at his stomach. It looked as if the man was eating something.
"Hey..." Tora tried to call out the mysterious person, but it kept on munching on something. The raven haired called again, this time the man looked at him. Tora couldn't see his face and the only thing he saw was the man's glowing red eyes. He noticed something dangling from the man's mouth. His eyes followed to where it led. How Tora wished he didn't do that. At the other end was his stomach, which was cut open. A pool of blood surrounded the two of them. And the thing hanging from the man's mouth was Tora's intestine. The raven haired felt like throwing up at the sight. He couldn't feel anything, but he was certain that the man was eating him, alive.
"Tora!"
The raven haired jerked upon hearing his name. Tora slowly looked back at the man who was devouring him.
"Tora! Tora!" The man was uttering his name repeatedly. Tora gazed at the man's face, a small grin appearing from its mouth as it kept calling his name.
"Shut up....shut up!" Tora yelled. He didn't know what to do or what to think. Suddenly, the man stopped. In a blink of an eye, the other man hurriedly crawled towards Tora's head, biting his face.
----
The raven haired suddenly woke up, his eyes wide open. He was breathing heavily. But it wasn't darkness that he saw, but a white ceiling.
"Tora! Thank God you're awake." A voice called out to him. The raven haired was hesitant to look at first, but when he turned his head, he saw a man, he had no glowing red eyes, but round brown ones. It was Hiroto.
"The doctor said your wounds aren't that deep, but you lost a lot of blood." The blond man said in a soft tone. Tora focused his eyes on Hiroto, but not really looking at him. His eyebrows furrowed as he tried to recollect what had happened.
"Tora." The raven haired snapped back to his senses after hearing his name.
"You're fine now. No need to stress yourself too much." Hiroto gently spoke in a very comforting tone. Tora softly smiled from his friend's words. But deep inside, he felt a bit disappointed. He was happy to see Hiroto, but it was as if there was someone else he was expecting. He couldn't understand.
"I remember..." Tora tried to speak as he laid his head back at the pillow.
"I remember that I was attacked. And I thought I'd died." Tora whispered, his eyes fixed at the room's white ceiling. Hiroto looked pained hearing his friend's statement.
"But you still are a lucky tiger, aren't you?" The blond man spoke with a grin on his face. "One of the tenants at your apartment saw you almost dead at the middle of the street while..." Hiroto continued to tell more details but Tora wasn't paying attention to him anymore. There was only one image in his mind, and it was Shou.
"Shou! Does he know I'm here?" The raven haired spoke in an alarmed tone.
"I don't know. I tried calling your apartment earlier, but no one was answering."
"Where's my phone?" Tora uttered in a hurried manner.
"Oh, I have it here with me." The blond replied while digging inside his bag. "One of the nurses gave it to me, together with your other belongings." Hiroto said while handing Tora the phone. The raven haired quickly snatched it from Hiroto's hand and flipped it open.
"Wh-what's wrong?" The blond asked. Tora was scanning his inbox for messages, but there was no message from Shou.
"How long have I been asleep?" Tora asked the shorter man.
"Mmm, you've been unconscious for more than a day now." The blond replied. Tora closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Though, he had survived the attack, he was extremely worried for Shou. Images of the monster flashed through Tora's mind. "What if Shou was also attacked?" The raven haired said to himself. Shou isn't the weak type of person one should be worried about. However, remembering what the monster had done to him, Tora still can't help but worry.
"Hiroto." Tora suddenly spoke.
"Mm?" The blond submissively replied.
"I need to get back home."
"Are you nuts?!" Hiroto snapped at Tora. "You're wounds haven't even healed yet! And you lost a lot of blood! Not to mention a few broken ribs!" Hiroto shouted while rising up from his seat. The blond was still about to say something but Tora cut him off.
"Okay, okay. I understand. Don't shout. You're at a hospital you know." Tora said trying to calm Hiroto down. He knew his friend would react like that. He knew Hiroto was just worried.
"But can I ask a favor?" The raven haired pleaded in a low tone.
"What?" Hiroto replied while crossing his arms trying to look at a different direction. He was still a bit agitated from his friend's earlier request.
"Contact Shou for me. Or at least make sure he's okay." The raven haired said with an almost shaking voice. The blond was surprised with what he heard. He looked at Tora with a perturbed expression
"Tora --"
"Please." Tora spoke, looking desperately at Hiroto. The blond just couldn't say no. He didn't know what Tora wanted from his roommate, or if it had anything to do with Tora's attack. But he was sure Tora was dead serious.
"Alright, I'll look for him." Hiroto replied. "But you have to promise me that you won't try and leave the hospital. Not until the doctors say it’s okay, okay?" The blond lectured Tora in a strict tone.
"Yes, mother." Tora jokingly replied. He then closed his eyes and tried to rest. But even after Hiroto's reassurance, he still couldn't neglect the uneasiness he was feeling.
----
Nightfall. A painful scream resounded at a dark alley. The agonizing noise suddenly halted as the body of the man fell at the ground in front of his attacker's feet. The mysterious man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans. It was impossible to see his face.
"So, this is what you've been doing....slaying your own kind." A voice suddenly echoed in the dead silent alley. The hooded attacker didn't move as he felt another man walk behind him.
"And you were the one who said 'protect the bloodline' right, Shou?" The mysterious man added in a taunting tone. The hooded man slowly turned around and faced the other. The moon shined on his face, emphasizing his pale skin and glowing red eyes.
"Tsunehito." Shou spoke, not threatened with the presence of the other man.
"Well, you do have every right anyway. After all, those dirty things are a disgrace to us purebloods, right?" But before the other man could say more, Shou was already in front of him, pinning him against the wall. But Tsunehito didn't resist.
"Tell me, how many of those bastards have you killed?" The statement aggravated the golden haired even more. Shou raised his fist, about to punch Tsunehito when the other suddenly grabbed Shou's hand, twisted it and threw him in the air. Shou landed on his feet, seemingly not injured from the counterattack.
"You've been turning humans into hybrids!" Shou barked at Tsunehito. The man just laughed at him.
"I don't get you, Shou. What's wrong with vampires turning humans into vampires?" Tsunehito replied with a big grin on his face as he placed his foot on top of the head of the man that was lying on the concrete. "Oh, look. This one's still alive." Tsunehito joyfully whispered.
"No. You're purposely turning them into mindless monsters that do nothing but feed!" Shou snapped back at the feminine man. Tsunehito turned his head and faced Shou, his grin disappearing from his lips.
"You pity those things so much. Even stoop down to their level, to the point that you're even mingling with them." Tsunehito said, his voice getting higher. He then pressed his foot harder and crushed the other man's head. Shou furrowed his eyebrows and glared at Tsunehito.
"Don't think that I don't know what you've been doing, Shou." Tsunehito said with a smirk. "You even shared a roof with a --" But before he could finish, Shou attacked him, hitting him at the stomach. Tsunehito was surprised with the other's sudden reaction. Shou was about to make another blow but the red haired was faster than him. The other man dodged the attack and jumped on top of the walls.
"I didn't know you were sensitive when it comes to your pet." Tsunehito teased Shou with an amused tone and a slight pout on his lips. Shou was shaking in anger as he glared at Tsunehito, preparing for another attack.
"I'm not in the mood to fight, Shou." Tsunehito said, surprising the golden haired. "But if I were you, I'd be cautious. You know what I mean." Tsunehito gave a last smile before completely disappearing. Shou just stood there, tightening his grip. His eyes gradually turned brown again.
"How did he know about Tora?" The golden haired thought to himself.
"But if I were you, I'd be cautious. You know what I mean."
The red haired's words echoed in his head. Shou felt butterflies in his stomach.
"Tora!" Shou immediately ran leaving the corpse of the dead hybrid.
