Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters; Hasbro and a ton of others do. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the movie. The world building caught my interest, and I love giving minor characters backstory. Enjoy!

Courtney "Cover Girl" Krieger scowled from her vantage-point over the training floor of The Pitt. Ripcord was at it again. He had been clumsily hitting on Scarlet from the moment he arrived several days ago. Her knuckles whitened gripping the hand railing.

"Keep up with that and you'll get wrinkles; won't be able to return to those cushy European modeling gigs," Sergeant Geoffrey Stone jabbed lightly as he took up a spot next to her.

"Like I'd give up my cute lil'baby," She replied with exaggerated indignity.

"Clutch would bust a gasket if he heard you call the Mauler's seventy-tons of armored firepower 'cute'."

The former professional model grinned knowingly, "That knuckle-dragger doesn't know her like I do."

Sgt. Stone let out a chuckle, "True. You do know your way around women." The blond could only sigh in response as her eyes drifted back over the railing. "You've got it bad; it's written all over your face." He shook his head sadly, "How did you ever get past 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' before getting headhunted by the Joe's?"

Cover Girl shrugged, "Brass likes to look the other way when your in the top 1% of all tankers...doesn't hurt when the company commander has a fetish for lesbians."

The Sgt. blanched, "You didn't ever...ya know...in front of him?"

"For the record, his perverted imagination was enough to give me a free-pass," she said before slugging her companion in the arm..

"Okay, okay. Sorry I even implied," he said rubbing the point of impact. "You sure know how to choose them." His eye met hers pointedly. "You realize she's as straight as an arrow."

She nodded glumly.

"...that Snake-Eyes would have already castrated the rookie if he had any inkling she was not enjoying it on some level."

Her shoulders slumped.

"And well isn't the Fem and Butch pair-thing kinda cliche?"

"She's hardly butch, me fem?...Tank Jockey here."

The sergeant raised a skeptical brow. "Last time the two of you 'happen' to be in the rec room at the same time...you were painting your nails while reading Vogue. She was arm wrestling Heavy Duty."

Courtney dropped her head to her hands; the railing let out a clang at the not-so-light impact. "It's like I'm fifteen again and crushing on the way-hetero head cheerleader," she moaned.

"C'mon there's gotta someone else in this outfit for you." He leaned in close conspiratorially. "I've heard whispers about Jinx and Lady Jaye."

"Just kisses girls when drunk, and bi- with eyes only for Flint," Courtney muttered bitterly. Stone winced in sympathy and mentally regrouped.

"There's more to life than love. Two more week and you're out of rotation as Hawk's Aide-de-Camp. In no time you'll be crushing bad guys underneath treads. Hell, you're still better off than the rest of us. Lot of the guys would kill for a front row seat at the women's showers." He stroked his chin, "Course a percentage could care less..."

Cover Girl allowed herself one more heavy sigh before straightening. "Speaking of which, I've gotta hunt down the General to sign off on some forms. I swear he uses the optical camo to hide from the paperwork."

"Well you REMF's are relentless about that crap." He laughed. Courtney flipped him the bird in response.

"Temporary REMF and don't you forget it." She winked and began her way down to the Administration section of the PITT.

*REMF, military slang for Rear Echelon Mother F**kers i.e. anyone not on the front lines of combat.
