Well it has been an appropriate amount of time since I opened the window into my life on here, so why not?

This weekend is OU v. Texas. Damn all Texans to a special, BBQ-flavored hell. But football and my enmity with our southern brethren aside, it's going to be a glorious weekend.

Right, as the title implies Welcome to Science and Engineering went quite well this time around. It got off to a laggy start and we ran out of pizza, but all in all a good event. I just hope that everyone there isn't quite so dedicated that we can't convince them to take more on...

So, as the title does command such imagery, I am quite surrounded with books at the moment.

It started some time late in the month of July when I decided that I had not been reading enough. With a quick trip to my favorite hole-in-the-wall used book store I at last had the means to satisfy my thirst for the written word (at a mere $2.40 a book).

I'm posting from it right now and it's friggin' sweet!

So, the reason I'm interested in biochemistry, molecular biology, and microbiology at all is because of Richard Preston's book, "The Hot Zone." This is a book about Ebola and its various related strains that I read in 8th grade. The movie Outbreak is loosely based on it, if only for the viruses and presence of military doctors.
