This is just lovely. I particularly liked the little touches underlining the differences between the Callahan and Strachey worlds (grocery store flowers - ok, Donald may not have bought them from a grocery store had the circumstances been different, but the fact that the Senator *noticed* says it all to me), before you then show where the similarities are, which is where they really matter. Thank you for enabling me to start my day with a smile. :)

I love seeing an outsider POV re: relationships! And backstory! This definitely but a smile on my face after reading this and tugged on my heart strings. Donald is just so confident and cool, <3. You did another great job in fleshing out a character we haven't met, a strong voice to Mr. Callahan, Sr.
