Flipping The Coin
Melanie was going to kill Sam when she saw her twin next. Her future life-sentence server of a sister had broken the sweetest creature on the planet, Carly Shay and had sent her off to Melanie for re-building. By the time Carly had found a train that could take her to Harvard Law School, Melanie was already preparing.
This wasn’t the first time she’d had to clean up for her darling dearest sister, but this was the only time Sam had sent a broken Carly Shay her way. Melanie had begged Sam over the phone to not let Carly come, hating the situation the irresponsible blonde had put her in, but as always her twin had blatantly ignored her wishes.
“Hey Mel, Sam-“
“I know,” Melanie cut in sharply, taking the near-bursting backpack from the dejected brunette. “Do you want me to sic our uncle Crusher on her?”
“You guys have an uncle called Crusher?” Carly smiled, small but still there. Melanie beamed, proud of herself.
“Says so on his birth certificate,” joked Melanie, knowing that it was a lie but not caring as Carly smiled further. She was like that, that darn Shay girl, the only one who could unknowingly flip the coin, making Sam good and Melanie bad. Sam didn’t send broken people towards help, Melanie didn’t violate housing rules by letting another person stay in her dorm room.
Yet here she was, Carly Shay sleeping in Melanie’s bed while the supposedly good twin watched silently, all this after Sam cared enough to direct the sleeping woman towards Harvard.
Melanie still wanted to kill Sam. Sam would probably show up in a day or two, begging for Carly to take her back. Carly Shay would give in, not fully understanding what it meant to make a good girl homicidal and a bad girl beg for forgiveness.
