Bloody hell, it's all go today. So now I hear a rumour (and apparently the producers are refusing to confirm or deny this) that the final London performance of Avenue Q might not be quite so final after all, following a huge surge in bookings once the closure was announced. Of course, the Noël Coward will be occupied as soon as AQ ends but allegedly the show will reopen at the Gielgud in June.
Again, this is just gossip at the moment, but if it's true I doubt the current cast, especially Daniel Boys and Julie Atherton, will be returning, so a month from now should still be a big final night for those of us going along. Besides, of the five of us, Evil Alex and
vanessaw are huge AQ fans,
catnip25 is a D-Boys fan, I'm both of the above and
aka_kelly would probably have never got round to seeing it if it wasn't the last one, so it's worked out well either way.
It'll be interesting to see if this turns out to be true or just a rumour... In the unlikely event D-Boys is still doing the show in the summer, maybe
triomakesmehot will consider a return trip to the Avenue...
