Another News Update

And once again The Avengers movie landscape shifts beneath our feet. I’m currently hearing that, despite earlier reports to the contrary, filming won’t be stalled in the wake of the theft of Samuel L. Jackson’s Avengers script. Chris Helmsworth, who plays Thor, has gone on record as saying the stolen script was an old draft. There’s been some hand- ( Read more... )

I'm wondering if the 'Ultimate' series, given its avowed goal that 'Thor et al. of Ultimate will not/should not act the same as Thor 616', means that Nick Fury will have a character makeover?

The Hasselhoff I've not seen as Fury -- I guess he'd be okay, as he's physically *in 1998* right, and the quippy dialogue which perhaps it had *again, I've not seen it* would fall trippingly off his tongue.

Thanks for these bits on the making of a movie -- they're fascinating. Oh, and Snake Plissken's is the one eyepatch that's classic, to me.

If you have any particular affection for bad movies, Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD is worth suffering through. It features some spectacularly bad dialogue; impressive, given it was written by David S. Goyer, whose credits also include Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

It's truly a masterful piece of fail. For those who haven't seen it, I should probably write up a full review.

I actually don't know a great deal about the "Ultimate" universe as I haven't read it. I've come to accept that Fury will generally be a dick in any book that's not his own, but I find the personality transplants a lot of the other characters received in the Ultimates 'verse a bit hard to swallow.

That said, I think the differences between the current 616 Fury and Ultimate Fury are already pretty substantial, physical appearance aside.

We'll have to see, I guess.

Oh, Snake Plissken. His eyepatch is a classic, it's true, though I was surprised at how little he actually did in that movie. Ah well. :)

Bad movies are deeply, truly enjoyable. Even bad trailers are enjoyable. I was looking forward to Corman's Fantastic Four based on the trailer alone. Goyer's probably bashful about this Fury movie, and yay for him that he triumphed enough to write Batman Begins, which I truly liked.

Review? *bats eyes*

I've become fond of Sir Nicholas Fury of Gaiman's 1602 series. Before it returned to the library, I hunted for a good scan to icon of Sir Nicholas, but nothing looked iconable. That's interesting about the Ultimate and the 616 Fury being different --- shows good writing, I guess, if their characters are at least recognizable?
