I am just crushed by this episode. I can't believe they killed Gwaine and Arthur. I have so many feels right now and I need to go find some fic where they're happily living.

I loved that Merlin told Arthur and that after some sulking, he accepted him. I agree that we should have gotten more time with them knowing.

I didn't like the last few seconds, either. I didn't think about him walking the same path for years, but it just seemed odd, in this show, to have a damn semi.

Merthur is canon...this is proof....
I seriously thought they were going to kiss. That was such an epic scene.

I am just kind of numb and disappointed and a little depressed. I got some of what I wanted, but not in the right way. He kicked battle ass and rode the dragon, but it was not how I wanted ( ... )

My issue wasn't really Arthur's death, I mean it happened in the legends so IsortofTthe problem I had was, thedragon told Merlin that Arthur's time would come again, yes? What was with the random shot of old Merlin?? Unless they were going to have Arthur pass by him or something, it was just so pointless.

And just because its a "family show" doesn't mean its going to have a happy ending. Not all of them do. Look at Harry Potter. Those were kids books and not everyone had a happy ending there, either.

I suppose. But HP so consistently delivered on depth and had complicated plot points that were painstakingly set up or hinted at all along whereas Merlin always took such easy-outs and shortcuts. I feel like they set up interesting conflicts (like the puppet queen thing or giving us good reasons for Morgans going slowly evil, then just flipping an evil switch instead). They always resolved things so lazily. So I guess the happy ending was what I wanted as a consolation prize for sitting through all that. Or just some "hell, yeah" glory moments. Didn't get em. :(
