1) I have bought second hand boots.

2) The best shopping advice I ever had was from a GP. She said you should only buy it if you A) need it and/or B) love it. If you don't need it and you don't love it, never buy it.

1) my mother would be very cross with you. i wont tell her, okay?

2) thats very good advice. usually when i go to the gp they rag on me about going back to work, or insist at looking in my area. i wish theyd just give me some solid gold shopping advice instead.

She wasn't my GP, she was just a GP. But I can't remember her name, just her advice.

Why is your mom so against second hand shoes?

Sorry I can be no help in the boot department. I'm totally retailed challenged in the UK. I have no idea where to get good stuff. But if you find a pair you do love don't be afraid to pay £90 or more for them, especially if they are the kind that can be resoled. I have a pair of Earth boots that have lasted me over eight years of pretty constant wear and they are still going strong. Mike's cowboy boots he found second hand and they have lasted him 7+ years.

a worn in pair of cowboy boots! that would currently be my holy grail.

There is a vintage shoe place in Shoreditch that has a lot of old cowboy boots. I don't know how much they are but next time I'm there I can check and let you know. Then at least if they were reasonable you could try some on next time you were in town.

i dont have a credit card, so i need to get my sister to do the technical side of getting my student card for me. because obviously we're the only uni in the country that doesnt have an actual student union i can go to in order to pay cash. very annoying.
