The case of the silver french whittling knife
The last few weeks I have kept stumbling across the excerpt above, regarding the order of adjectives in English. So today I did some digging. I knew that i'd read it before, and I think it was in one of Susie Dent's books - and so it was - in her book "Word Perfect" (aside - love the fact that searching through the kindle is so easy!) She referenced that it had come from Mark Forsythe, so I started some internet digging.
I found this article, which lead me to Mark Forsythe and his Inkyfool Twitter feed and then his Youtube channel and Youtube playlist. Hours of watching and reading fun there!
And then of course browsing all those sources lead me to buying these books :-)
I love the internet, I love words, I wish I had kept studyling linguistics!
