I thought that this article was really interesting. For a long time we had few close friends with kids, and now things are changing, yay! There are a number of things in the article that I don't agree with, but some of the points that I really liked are below. I think the key is that it takes a lot of energy to maintain friendships sometimes, and ( Read more... )

I have a hard time with this, because I don't have kids, I don't see them in my immediate future, and I seem to react totally unpredictably to friends that have kids. I haven't figured out WHY I do so ( ... )

I think the knowing people outside of being a parent really helps. And it is really just about who you want to spend your time with. For me, being a parent means that I have less free time, so I've really had to think about who I want to see!

Speaking of which, are you up for lunch sometime soon to celebrate our up coming birthdays? :)

I was just talking to dad last night about us having a combined party :)

I think I could do lunch anytime next week. I'll even be around memorial day, I think.

oh, and I want to add that the article makes having kids sound like a horrible thing. Just sayin. I hear it is great and totally rewarding and all... but you lose all your friends and can't sleep and get snippy with your spouse. Sounds like a blast.

i agree, it does make it sound pretty bad! but i guess the thing to remember is that everyone knows the good things, and the article was just focused on the bad. there is plenty of good, you just have to remember to focus on that! but i think most things in life are that way, there is good and bad and your attitude about how you look at something can make all the difference.

I am really sorry we didn't send a gift for #2- we had one ordered, but after it was on back-order Amazon finally just canceled it :( We'll think of something else though.

Interesting article- thanks for the link!

Don't worry about it at all! You made it to her baptism even though you have a little one! Thats gift enough. As a side note, I'm pretty sure that the mobile that Liam still sleeps with every night (well, the music box part of it), was a gift from you and Katie! He loves it still!

I did especially think of you and Katie when I was reading the article, especially since you are still in the up many times at night stage!
