I love restored old movie theaters. The chairs usually not so much as they tend to be narrower & I am decidedly not narrow. (laugh) Very interesting observation about the audio differences between up top and down below.
The town the school I did my MA at was quite small, it had a little local theater that had been there forever. 2 screens, small, more intimate auditoriums & a small soda that was definitely not small for only a buck. A great place in the summer.

I went to see Avengers earlier in the week. While i love stadium seating & plush seats, its just so big sometimes. And the last 1/4 of my bag of popcorn was shells & junk. :-(

In Kodiak, the one theater in town had a balcony. They charged extra for seats there, so hardly anyone was ever there--perfect for me! :-)

They take suggestions too, but I think it's too late for my idea to show Alien and Aliens to tie into Prometheus opening this Friday. They've already got their schedule set unless they do a special showing.
Back during Jim Crow segregation days, blacks were often relegated to the balcony in Southern theaters, to be out of sight and out of mind. The younger generations have no idea about that, and just like the back of the bus, it's the cool place to be now.
