I have yet to actually read the article, and/or announcement from LoC itself, but... Privacy issues aside, I saw some good comments from duo Paul and Storm regarding the Twitter cataloging. Along the lines of "In the future, historians will have to assume that in 2009 everyone moved to Tehran." and "Today I had soup. << We must learn of this wonder called soup!" and "My tweets are being archived for the future, I AM TALKING TO THE FUTURE!"

Here's the official announcement from LoC, which went up today.

The privacy issue makes me twitchy. Yes, people are posting these in public and therefore anyone can read them, but most just don't think about anyone beyond their friends reading them. I wonder how many are going to rethink what they say now that it's outside the Twitter realm? Probably not many. ;)
