Being Human: What are the rules?

Aug 31, 2009 15:13

Now that the first series has finished on BBC America, I thought I'd indulge in one of my favorite hobbies... nitpicking the world building rules and see if they'd really "work" or are at least internally consistent.

Spoilers for Series 1 )

The vampire thing seems restricted to simple photo-sensitivity. They can be out in the sunlight, but would prefer not to. Of course, this creates a conundrum with the next point: their bodies are cold. It was mentioned that Bernie felt cold afterward, and it's the unspoken reason why Mitchell is always sporting those fingerless gloves. So if they feel cold all the time maybe stepping into the sun would warm them up ( ... )

Maybe the cold conundrum is on purpose? They always feel cold, because their bodies don't warm in the sun as they should ( ... )

I could not have a bigger crush on George (and his adorable mini-Kelly-Clarkson girlfriend).

What might be cool is if, like Annie, now that George has begun to accept the wolf, he finds he can access at least some of his abilities between changes. Who knows, maybe his desire to "prove" his humanity might give him all sorts of access to generally unknown abilities... like maybe the ability to control the change and not be reliant on/at the mercy of planetary positioning. :-)

So, if George and Nina have a litter, would they also be werewolves? :-)

I'd really like George to have some more power, if for no other reason than to protect himself. Mitchell can fight, Annie can *poof* away if needed, George... well... he's one of the world's gayest ninjas when he's not being fuzzy. *g*

Maybe they'll tweak it a bit so he can control it now if he wants, but if he doesn't transform, he'll eventually lose control and have to change whether he wants to or not. Still a curse, but at least with some control.

If Nina has a litter, I'm pretty sure we'll figure out if a lycanthrope can have a little "fixing incident". [snip, snip]

Annie does need to get over her fear of the living. What does she think they can *do* to her? :-) "Sweetie, you're already *DEAD*!"

Poor George. The Gay Ninja Werewolf. Mitchell at least has the freaky, "My eyes can turn black. Fear me." thing.
