It's almost time for a new Doctor, so BBC America has been marathoning episodes of the modern run of the series. I haven't rewatched some of the older episodes in a while, and it's interesting to compare and contrast the various Doctors as well as the differences in style from Davies and Moffat. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next ( Read more... )

Oh, gosh, that was so very, very moving and so bitter-sweet. I had forgotten some of those scenes. He certainly will be missed; a wonderful character.

I really wish we'd have some of the people who've played a role (not just companions) return for a visit now and again. I didn't like the Tenth Doctor's exit because it was treated like a "farewell tour" of companions that he (and we) would never see again.

I loved Wilf. He was very aware of history repeating itself, which was an interesting contrast with a Time Lord. His reaction when he knew the foreign family they were sharing a house with in an AU timeline were being sent off to a concentration camp broke my heart. That he was ultimately the one to fulfill the prophecy of "He will knock four times" meaning the end of the Tenth Doctor was also a heart breaker. He was willing to sacrifice himself to save a stranger, and in turn The Doctor sacrificed his current incarnation to save Wilf. It wasn't The Master or even the Time Lords that ended Ten, it was an old man who wasn't even a villain, just a hero in his own way.

I loved Wilf too! And yes, I hated the Tenth Doctor's farewell tour for many reasons. That was part of it. He saw Sarah Jane again; surely now she can see Wilf some time! (Oh, I'm going to have so much pronoun trouble with this show now.)

I'm finding myself switching between "he/his" or "she/her" and "they/them" depending on the situation.

I'm interested by the new companions. Little bit of an old series companion vibe. Wouldn't mind a visit with some of the old companions, from old series or new.
