Post Infinity War

Apr 28, 2018 11:55

I saw one headline for Infinity War that basically said "So They Did That. Now What?" That's what's going through my mind, with two movies coming up between Infinity War and Avengers 4, which still doesn't have a title because supposedly it's a spoiler (presumably for Infinity War, but maybe something else if it refers to a comics storyline).
Spoilers referencing IW, but mostly in relation to the next two movies )

I wanted to lay it out to try to make sense of it myself. :)

At least we know they filmed both movies at once, so it's in the can. Though I'd be willing to bet they filmed multiple variations of some scenes, so they can tweak the answer once they see fan theories online.

I think Antman would overlap with IW at the end at least.

In regards to Nat and Bruce, the actors said it was a missed opportunity of sorts. Personally, I didn't mind the hint of romance between them. I liked the idea of a strong friendship between Nat and Clint but US TV/films are strangely opposed to any relationship other than a romatic/sexual one between a man and a woman.

Sincerely hope Steve doesn't get to be the one being sacrificed to use the Soul Stone. That character deserves a break!

So... everyone got May 3, 2019 on their calendar?

LOL! I mentioned to someone once that I set my years by Marvel's films! XD

It says something about the sad state of my life^_~

I think A&tW will have some overlap with A:IW, but I'm just not sure what the when and how will be. They may just have a reference to the news reports from New York, but not delve into it, leaving us wonder who from Team Ant-Man disappears after The Snap until we get to Avengers 4 ( ... )

Good points. I've been seeing a few theories about the ending, concerning the Soul Stone and it's significance and Carol's role in the next film. The Bruce/Nat is definitely dead as they both have way more pressing problems.

As for the next one, I'm still a little numb from my 2 IW experiences from the weekend. Give me a few weeks, then I'll be raring to go. LOL I loved this one, but it broke let me tell you. 'cries'

It's definitely one I'll have to see again after reading all the theories floating around to really absorb everything. Plus there were a lot of times I couldn't hear lines because people were laughing. I love seeing the movies with a big group, but it does make it hard to get the nuances sometimes.

I've read that Tom Holland basically ad-libbed That Scene. He totally sold it. The bastard. I'm kind of hoping that he'll get to exercise his acting chops more in the next Spider-man movie.

One niggle that I didn't think of watching the movie, but have been thinking about the last couple of days is why in the world did they have a ground war in Wakanda? They have fighter jets, we saw one in Black Panther, so why didn't they attack from the air beyond what the Avengers who could fly did?

Huh, that's a very good question. Why wouldn't any type of arial strike been employed? In addition to the Wakanda, Tony has The Suits as evidenced in Ultron, which could have been a help to the Wakandans as well. Bruce seems to be able to operate Stark tech too. I don't know. Guess the Russos counted on us too to be stunned by the carnage to ask these questions, at that time.

Did you hear that about Thanos living in the Soul Stone? Also, someone else told me that Valkyrie escaped from the ship with some of the Asgardians. It was in the movie but I missed it. Glad to know she's still around and that not all of Thor's people are gone. Also, that was not Steve's first trip to Wakanda! He's apparently been coming to visit for awhile. So, I can't wait to read all of the "Stucky raising baby goats" fics for the next year, until next May. LOL (I've already glanced at a few on AO3)

The ground war, other than those who can personally fly, was an odd choice. Wakandan vessels, Quinjets, etc. could have been used, but those outside of Wakanda might not have been able to make it in time.

I have a headcanon that Tony gave Bruce full access to Stark Industries tech after The Avengers. He has clearance to use it, but he might not be able to fully utilize it because he hasn't used it, hence tripping in the Hulkbuster suit ( ... )

Well, as for Bruce, I read an interesting theory yesterday. Goes like this: Strange saw the only outcome. He used the time stone to transport to the moment when Thano attacked Thor's ship, recruited Heimdall to transport Hulk to Earth, telling him not come out until he was told to. That could explain why he kept refusing Bruce. I agree that maybe Thanos's in the Soul World. Guess that would be the "rest" he was seeking? Kinda far-fetched but these theories are all we have until Marvel lifts the embargo on 4.

I do think Val will show up, either in a flashback scene or perhaps in a post-credit scene for AntMan or Cap Marvel. There has to be a reason the Russos shared that.

That's an interesting idea for Hulk. It did seem odd that Heimdall just sent him back to earth and no one else, so Bruce could warn The Avengers, and he just so happened to land in Doctor Strange's place.

On one hand, all these far-fetched theories make for great fanfic inspiration. On the other, the fanfic answers will probably end up more thought out than what's onscreen. At least the sequel is already done, so TPTB won't be trying to outdo fannish theories that get to close to what they plan, but I do expect they filmed a few alternate scenes. I'd be willing to bet even the actors don't know exactly how what they've filmed will play out, but most especially Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo. :)
