The Returned
So once again an American network is remaking a foreign TV show. This time it's the French show Les Revenants (The Returned), which I talked about here. There's already been a similar American show called Resurrection that used the same basic concept, but I haven't watched it to make a comparison.
From what I've read, A&E's version of The Returned is a direct remake of the French show's first season. The French show is supposed to get a second season, but not until Autumn 2015 in France, and who knows how long for it to be subtitled and aired on The Sundance Channel in the US. So if the US remake gets a renewal, it may go off on a totally different tangent from the original, which will be really weird, IMO.
I don't generally care for Americanized remakes, especially if the original language is English, but this one is French, and a lot of Americans have a low tolerance for subtitles ("You expect me to read and watch TV?!"), so I'm interested to see if it sticks to the original plot and draws an audience.
