I loved that Cooper took him to a gay bar, and then proceeded to tell him to keep his prejudices to himself while on duty, mmmkay, but also knew it wasn't going to end well and Lucero wouldn't be able to be "jokey" about it all that long. The jokes are merely a gateway for the real hate for most (not sure about Dewey, because he's just generally a dickwad, though I swear in the hospital scene a few episodes ago Cooper definitely twitched and was hurt by the words, not that he'd ever say it
