Two stout shoes for dusty roads,
One pearl for medieval toads,
Two magpies when misfortune bodes,
One book of verse for heartening odes.
One brolly for the pouring rain,
Two willowfine to ease the pain,
One sturdy rope to take the strain,
Two hidden bags for treasures gained,
Two soup stones, for peas and ham,
One loaf hard bread, in case of jam,
Two fireworks for frightening bangs,
One coracle, for lake and dam.
Two teddy bears, for when day's done,
One wide-brimmed hat for summer's sun,
Five knucklebones- they're just for fun
And now, look here! The road's begun!
