Ignorance

Let me begin by stating that I understand that each generation has its own set of things it does not accept, understand, etc. My parents belong to a different generation and I know that. However, that doesn't mean I have to like it ( Read more... )

Have I mentioned how crazy your parents make me feel. Can people get any more ignorant? It sounds like McCain on Ellen today. Her point was she wants to get married (it was a rerun) and she stated "calling it a contract while getting insurance and benefits is like saying you can sit here, but you can't sit there" his response was "well, I guess that's something we'll just have to disagree on." WHAT?! How crazy does that sound? *shakes head* That's like admitting you're racist and that we should go back to the day of segregation. People look at you weird for even suggesting it, but those gays can't get rights or they'll take over the world. Oh no! LOL. People are silly.

Wow... I think that beats my dad, and we've had some pretty good arguments... My dad is crazy ignorant Republican... At least I can kind of sympathize, though my dad isn't an awful person or father, just disturbingly ignorant. Anyway, you have my condolences.

I just wish there was some....leeway, some space between crazy and the Wall that I've come to know as that place they live when they're thrilled about politics.
Like last night. I couldn't stand to listen to them salivating over the Republican convention thing. Yes, I don't know enough about politics, but I feel saner for it sometimes. Yes, I am ignorant of a lot when it comes to politics. But I know what I want. I know I want a place where my vote on my body, my child (should I have one) and my vote on my country can actually count for something beyond a woman's feeble attempt against her fellow woman who happens to be empowered because a celebrated POW pulled her from the Alaskan wilderness into the jungles of D.C.
ugh.
hate politics.
