Survived Thanksgiving

...with only an extra bite here and there. Wasn't easy, especially since Mela made chestnut stuffing. But I weigh tonight and expect an average (2-2.5 pound) loss. Currently standing at 173 pounds: having lost 44.3, with 33 to go. I got my original wedding ring back on last week. The jeans are loose again, but not yet falling off.

I'm glad you were able to get through the holidays. I did too. The Tofurkey was yummy. That's great you've lost so much weight on that diet.

Thanks! Regular days can be fairly easy--holidays, parties, and restaurants not so much.

Yes, I always found these days hardest when I was dieting.

oh i really liked john adams too! i saw that when it was on tv. the golden compass. hhmm. i read the book AND saw the movie and they were pretty right on the money with the movie. that how i felt the whole book. huh? i have the other two in the series and im hoping once i get around to readding them it will all become clear. i doubt that it actually will but im holding out hope. hahaha. is that a loose own because its belted? it looks pretty fitted over the bust area and gathered at the waist. i think i had the wrong idea about loose gowns maybe. what exactly is the qualifyer to make it a loose gown? thanks.

You had the right idea: it's a loose gown because it's fitted to the bust and loose thereafter. Some are worn open below the waist, to show the kirtle or forepart, and some are worn open all the way. Katherine is wearing a girdle with hers, which makes it look gathered at the waist, but that's somewhat unusual.

I wish I could, but it's not going to happen. Maybe for Arts & Archery. (I want something Venetian for 12th Night.)

Go you on the diet stuff! You are doing fabulous!

I really enjoyed Golden Compass. I hadn't read the book (I've started it a couple of times, but haven't gotten very far) but I enjoyed the movie very much.

What? No recounting of WoW adventures? :) I'm getting a kick that you've gotten into the world of mmorpg's and are enjoying it.

Thanks very much for the encouragement. Some days it feels like it's been an awfully long time, even though I'm actually losing weight pretty quickly.

There were parts of a good movie in Golden Compass: we both really wanted to like it, but it just gave us whiplash. Way too much stuff crammed in with little reference to logic.

I mostly do PvE, which I suspect leads to less interesting adventures (at least for the retelling...) Got my flying mount on Monday--makes you just want to take off and fly around stuff. I like the environments a lot--the new expansion is all polar and alpine so far, and pretty attractive.

What kind of mount did you get? :)

It's a griffin. Night elves are all very sword-and-sorcer-y.

I loved "The Golden Compass"! I'd read the book, loved it (much more so than the other two books in the trilogy) and thought they did a great job adapting it to film. In fact, I just bought the DVD off Netflix and was planning to watch it today while sewing.

I imagined it might have been better to have read the book first.

My main reaction to the Golden Compass was, "Wow! They fitted more of the book into two hours than I expected them to!"

Congrats on your new griffin! Be careful, I hear they start biting if you don't keep them well-fed....

I know what you mean about UFOs... thanks to an event that was basically a costumers' collegium last month, I now have a single finished glove made out of schoolbus-yellow felt. Quite the fashion statement, I'm sure.

love ya, miss ya bunches!

Haven't got much use out of the griffen yet--I'm either doing quests in Northrend, where you can't fly till you're 77, or working on trade skills in Azeroth, where you can't fly. But as soon as I hit 300 in cooking, it's back to Outland...

So, what other classes did you take at the collegium?

We miss you guys, too.
