The school has policies and standards, but they never check the rooms, so they never saw it. I wish they would actually do checks like they are supposed to.
When I was in college, we had a roommate who gave the whole apartment flies!
So our setup was 4 people to an apartment with 2 sets of bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, another sink/get ready area, a living room, and a utility room. We had a group of 4 from freshmen dorm to sign up for this apartment. One person dropped out so we were assigned a random guy, who wasn't in the apartment much (we'll call him "Mike"). So eventually, we developed a fly issue. Now we weren't clean people, but none of us were THAT dirty to attract flies. But we definitely tried to clean everything but couldn't get rid of them. Eventually, we discovered that "Mike" had an alternate/personal trashcan (for some reason) in the utility room (which no one really went into). One day, he took out his trash (that none of us knew about) which contained old pizza from over a MONTH ago. The flies abated fairly quickly afterwards.
That's so disgusting! My old roommate would never take her trash out, but I didn't want bugs, so I just pitched it every week or so. My current room is on the first floor, and pest control just sprayed the building last week, so there have been tons of rolly pollys all over the place. Thankfully, that seems to be the only thing so far we've had, bug-wise.
Wow, that sucks. I know that feeling though. Nothing exactly like your weekend (luckily I just live with my girlfriend and we keep a very tidy house, a couple of stray guinea pig poops aside) but I know that feeling of intending to do some sort of homework or study and then just being hit with all sorts of other shit. It's how I'm in the position I am now with school. Hopefully April isn't to you what February was to me!
But hey on the bright side.... Ether One is a really good game, played it sometime last year and absolutely loved it. A lot of people diss "Walking Simulator" games, but I really love them. I'd also recommend Everybody's Gone to the Rapture if you enjoy that style of game.
So far this week is going a little better than the weekend, but I still haven't had a chance to work on my paper. So frustrated >.<
I rather enjoyed Ether One, and it took me a moment to understand the significance of the ending. After playing through, I feel like things should have been a bit more elaborated on from the start so it made more sense at the beginning and didn't take so long to understand the "why" of most things.
I enjoyed Rapture! I thought the storytelling was great, and the achievements added a bit of humor. I do feel, though, that they could have made the walking speed in most of it a bit faster. It was kind of killer if you had to walk across town, haha.
Yikes, that sounds awful. I sometimes think I'm messy, and then I hear about stuff like that! I am sorry you didn't get to work on your paper like you wanted. I am really behind on school stuff, it sucks!
Messy isn't too bad. When it gets to the point of dirty, where it's a health concern, it's no longer ok.
I've been super busy with a whole bunch of other projects (thus why I set aside last weekend to knock out that paper), but I have been able to get little bits done here and there, in terms of research. Hoping to finish other projects quickly to work on it.
